Ron McGaughey : I am a landscape painter living in Manson, Washington. I grew up in Wenatchee and have been painting North Central Washington views for over 25 years. I enjoy painting the Columbia River, basalt coulees of the shrub-steppe, fruit orchards, flowers and other subjects.
I studied painting at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and graphics at the Burnley School of Professional Art in Seattle.
My paintings are in the collections of : Museum of Northwest Art, The Washington Art Consortium, The Pacific NW Conference of the United Methodist Church, Washington State Fish & Wildlife, Seattle Arts Commission’s Portable Works, Washington Trust Bank, Washington State Arts Commission, & private collections.
I love the sensual, earthy particulars of the world and I want to put to canvas what the painter Fairfield Porter calls the illogical immediate. Accepting and painting things as you find them: “Order seems to come from searching for disorder, and awkwardness from searching for harmony or likeness, or the following of a system. The truest order is what you already find there, or that will be given if you don’t try for it. When you arrange, you fail.” (Fairfield Porter quoting Wittgenstein)
These unframed paintings are available for purchase unless otherwise stated (nfs)
